Some terms I organized... I hope this helps.
Honorifics
- -nim - honorific way of calling. When you are lower status than the other person.
- ex) Hwarang-nim
- also when you are online, if you don't know the other person at all, you called them -nim
- -ssi or -shi - honorific way of calling. When you are same status.
- ex) Hwarang-shi
Family or close friends
- Oppa - younger sister or a girl calling older brother or older boy
- ex) Hwarang Oppa or just Oppa
- Orabunie - older word for Oppa. Can be a honorific way.
- Hyung - younger brother or a boy calling older brother or older boy
- ex) Hwarang Hyung or just Hyung
- Hyung-nim - honorific way of calling Hyung.
- If an older guy calls another guy Hyung-nim, they might be a gang member...
- It can be just brothers or close friends
- Younger brother's wife calls older brother's wife Hyung-nim.
- Unnie - younger sister or a girl calling older sister or older girl
- ex) Hwarang Unnie or just Unnie
- Husband's younger sister calls her older brother's wife Unnie
- Noona - younger brother or a boy calling older sister or older girl
- Hwarang Noona or just Noona
- Noonim - honorific way of calling Noona
- Dongsaeng - younger sibling or younger person. (This word won't really come out because I can just translate to 'younger sibling')
- Yeodongsaeng - younger girl sibling
- Namdongsaeng - younger boy sibling
People terms
- Ajumma - middle aged lady. A married woman can be called Ajumma, but younger people will hate it. Around 40-late 50.
- Ajussi - middle aged man.
If you guys don't know the pronunciation, go to GOOGLE TRANSLATE and hear English pronunciation. I used that... most of them are similar.
